If you are a grandparent or an individual serving as a parent to a child born outside of your nuclear family, then you are providing kinship care and we want to reach out to you.
Quite often, those providing kinship care have heavy burdens — financially or emotionally. We want to give you a listening ear and offer some encouragement.
Our new Kinship Support group meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m. The church is located at 280 W. Riverside St. in Covington, across the street from the Jackson River Credit Union. Ample parking is available at the rear of the church and signs will be posted to direct you to our meeting room.
The group is led by Sandy Ballard, who has first-hand experience in raising a grandchild. You can read more about Sandy and her desire to start this group by clicking a link at the bottom of this page. Sandy can be reached at (540) 550-4097 or you may also contact our church office at (540) 962-2256. Our e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can participate in our Kinship Group at no cost. Just come as you are and be ready to receive the love and encouragement that you need. We also provide light refreshments.
Even though the title of the book mentions grandparents, our group is open to anyone taking care of kin. If you are a sibling caring for a sibling, or an aunt or an uncle taking care of kin, then our group is for you.
The Kinship Support Group is just one of the many ways Covington Baptist Church shows that it cares for the people that make up our community. Our mission is to "Share God's Word with all people and to lead them to follow Jesus."
